California Burning

The Sana Anna hills have caught fire again, like they do every year, and they have cremated houses, like they do every year, and the fire is as large as New York, sounds like the fire of 1956. Sad fact is the Sana Anna hills catch fire all of the time so who is at fault with this mess.

Land use planning because land use planners saw no reason, like fire, not to build there, This is what happens when someone from California gets a good idea, laws are passed, actions taken, people lose everything. So the land use planners should have to pay the bill because they allowed a use that shouldn't have been and now we all have to pay money to "fix".

How about this, let’s set some land use planners afire and then the fun will really begin!

That's how we see it.

Another Round

After reading a book and doing some research on the great war, also known as WWI, my master offers the following original poem.

Another Round
A Reflection On The Great War 1914-1918 AD
A soft rain fell
As we walked into hell
On that cold November morning.

Where machine gun bullets and artillery blasts
Tore the flesh from our bones
Men by the score died without warning.

The wounded lay where they fell
For how long no one could tell
Some died of their wounds in a ditch.

Night came at last
A welcomed end to the blast
To the enemy positions the dead pointed the way.

They died bravely they say
They died every day
In four years the dead numbered nine million.

Wars are fought over tin
The love of a woman
Philosophy and resources.

We will do this again
It's as common as wind
So shall we begin another?

Sherman Lackey

That sums up our thoughts.

Stickem Up Portland!

One of the powers that be wants to add a street charge to the Portland Oregon city sewer bill to the tune of 4.75 per month plus a 3 cent a gallon fuel tax for cars and trucks. Tri Met busses and city vehicles are naturally exempt from this as are government buildings.

So let’s look at this because in ten years they want to “raise” 352 million bucks for the repair of major streets, street lights and a few bridges. This doesn’t apply to state and county roads that are in the city and means that 35 million 200 thousand dollars will be diverted from local businesses and local persons to government.

The city already gets money from the state and property tax for streets, though they don’t say exactly how they spend it, they say they need more. The real message here is that Portland misuses its money, hats businesses and loathes single families, but single rich yuppies are okdokie.

The powers that be don’t want businesses to give their workers raises, or bonuses, or pay a living wage, which is why they like illegal aliens which pay this sort of thing without questioning.

We predict that with such a outlay by an oppressive government business will leave Portland Oregon, small family run shops first, forcing the workforce to seek employment outside of Portland . As people cutback their driving the money stream will drop which in turn will cause a drop in the revenue that Portland receives.

It is not enough for elected officials to say that they need more money without explaining just why the department head of the transportation department makes 10 grand more than the median wage of the Portland Population. If wages for city workers are not greater than the median wage (average as opposed to the rich) then the money to fix the infrastructure will be there without a raise in taxes or the creation of new taxes.

Course they could just sell bonds or take the money out of the general fund but that would be the smart thing to do wouldn’t it?

That’s how we see it.
